Sacrament of Baptism

Congratulations on your decision to have your child baptized! We are delighted to celebrate this joyous sacrament with your family.

Requirements for Infant Baptism at St. Cecilia

  • Age Requirement: Infant Baptism is for children under 7 years of age.
  • Parish Registration: To best serve you, we suggest registering with the parish. Families from other parishes are always welcome. To register for our parish, please fill out this Form
  • Required Documents:
    • Completed St. Cecilia Baptism Registration Form 
    • Original state-issued Birth Certificate (we will make a copy and return the original to you)
  • Baptism Preparation Class: Both parents and godparents are required to attend a Baptism preparation class. Classes are held on the second Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Monica Room and are led by Fr. Mark.
  • Scheduling the Baptism: Once all documentation is submitted and the preparation class has been attended, we will contact you to confirm an available date for the Baptism.

The Grace (effect)

The effects of Baptism are: 

  • the washing away of original sin, as well as all actual sin if any exists;
  • remits all punishment due on account of such sins;
  • imprints the character of a Christian;
  • makes us children of God, members of the Church, and heirs to Paradise, and enables us to receive the other sacraments.
